About Christ for the Poor
Founded by Alejandro Torres in February 2007, Christ for the Poor (CFP) is a 501(c) (3) non-profit educational and poverty relief organization whose goal is to assist the poor in countries devastated by war and hunger.
Alejandro believes that the best way to improve the quality of life of the poor is to empower young people, their families, and communities through education. In his world travels, he has seen the effects of poverty and injustice first hand. Born in a humble family where he had to work as a child to help his parents in their small business, Alejandro knows the value of work and education.
His vision is to help young people in Central, South American and Caribbean communities by building schools and institutes that offer opportunities for overcoming the challenges of poverty and injustice.
CFP's has offices in Puerto Rico, Nicaragua and Florida. In addition to the valuable support of our staff and our boards, we have several collaborators that continually work to implement new ideas for our programs.
